How busy is your kitchen day-to-day?

Light use – mostly the odd meal or takeaway. Regular use – we cook most days, but not constantly. Family hub – heavy daily use, kids, guests, lots of cooking. It's more of a show kitchen – looks matter more than toughness.

How much ongoing maintenance are you happy with?

Wipe and go – I don't want to think about it. I'm happy to follow a few simple care rules. I don't mind occasional resealing or special products if needed.

What realistically happens with hot pans and trays?

I always use trivets or pan stands. I try to, but hot pans do end up straight on the worktop sometimes. We often put hot pans down directly with no protection.

Which look are you most drawn to?

Clean, modern plain whites or greys. Marble-style veining and luxury stone looks. Natural stone character, movement and variation. Industrial / concrete / stone-slab, quite architectural.

How would you describe your worktop budget?

As cost-effective as possible. Mid-range – good balance of quality and price. Happy to pay more for the right look and performance.

What worries you most about your new worktops?

Staining from wine, coffee, food etc. Scratches and chips. Heat damage from hot pans. Visible joins and hygiene around the sink.

How important are seamless features like coved upstands or integrated sinks?

Very important – I'd love a seamless, easy-to-clean look. Nice to have, but not essential. Not important – separate sinks and simple upstands are fine.
